Every Hermès bag that arrives at FitsAura goes through the same five-stage inspection. It takes time, and it is the most important part of what we do.
1. The leather and smell
Epsom, Togo and Swift each have a distinct grain and weight. The smell of quality leather cannot be replicated.
2. The stitching
Hermès uses a saddle stitch on many models — look for a slight diagonal and a consistent angle, not a flat machine stitch.
3. The stamps
Blind stamps, date codes and the craftsman’s mark should be crisp, consistent and correctly placed for the production year.
4. The hardware
Weight, engraving and the movement of the turn-lock are all checked against reference pieces.
5. The paperwork
Where available, box, dust bag, rain cover and receipts are verified alongside the bag.
Only then does a piece go live on the site.
